All Earth Safe Finishes stains contains colorized pigments or pigment that when added to a stain mixture and is applied to wood, seeps into the pores of the wood and gives a rich color to the raw wood. Some types of wood work well with 1 coat of stain coverage. Others like pine, aspen, and a few other woods work better when a sealer is applied first.
